Also known as | O | moving forward; driving forward; ahead; towards the front; transportation forward | TIC Description |
Definition | M | Forward is a relative direction towards the front of an object, the opposite of backward/reverse. This definition covers vehicles which can move by themselves and their sub-subjects. Movement forward can also be defined by translation along X-axis to + direction (forward) using right hand coordinate system. See picture below. Main body coordinates
The x-axis is going through the https://tic40.atlassian.net/l/c/u6sgBUdn in the default direction of the wheels touching the ground. Forward is usually defined by the design of the machine, it is the main travel direction. In case the travel direction forward is not clear, because the CHE is symmetrical or other indicators are missing (e.g. missing cabin for an SC (ASC), AutoRTG, AutoRMG, AGV, Autostrad): Forward needs to be defined by the vendor or the operator and needs to be labelled on the machine and shown in user interfaces. Machine types are listed later in this presentation. Orientation of the coordinate system is defined in https://tic40.atlassian.net/l/c/v682e1RP. Origo of the coordinate system is defined in https://tic40.atlassian.net/l/c/b0709WAa. | TIC Description |
Further Detail | O | “Forward” is the opposite of “Reverse” while the subject is Working. Forward represents if the machine is moving while it is “Working” Forward is referring to operational definition not about the “NotRalenti” running engine (powersource) definition. For example in a classical CHE it is considered moving forward if any of these are true (active):
It is not considered moving forward

Example | M | che.drive.forward.status: TRUE = the Container Handler Equipment is moving forward according to command from the driver/system. A RTG is trolleying normally without any operator input but because inertia it is still moving so it is still moving forward. che.trolley.forward.status.input.actual: FALSE che.trolley.forward.status.ouput.actual: TRUE; che.trolley.forward.status.input_or_ouput: TRUE | TIC Description |
