TIC Description

Definition

M

“Anchorage" is the process by which a carrier (vessel) is using the anchor to maintain an intermediate waiting position on its way to the port (terminal) or after departure from the port (terminal).

Further Detail

O

Anchorage is a sub-process of the subject (process) CarrierVisit. It may occur during Carriervisit.Arrival or CarrierVisit.Departure process (inbound to the port) or Carriervisit.Departure (outbound from the port), or independent from both. It is applicable to the carrier type = vessel only and excludes carrier types truck and rail.

The Anchorage “start” event occurs when the vessel “Let go” (drops) the anchor (arrival to anchorage area). This may be in the approach towards the port (inbound) or after leaving that port (outbound), usually at a designated anchorage area at the seaside vicinity of the port or river passage.

Anchorage “end” event occurs when the vessel’s anchor heaved in and nested (departure from anchorage).

Importantly, the anchorage process (from Start to End) may both occur when the vessel is arriving to port (inbound) but also when it is leaving the port (outbound) and proceeds to anchorage instead of commencing the next sea passage.
