Carrier is ready for departure when all of its own activities are complete and only depends on activities related to the departure process.

Vessel:

Event when the vessel reports First time readiness for sailing as reported by the vessel to to sail from the terminal and is waiting for the marine services provider according to local regulations(regardless if gangway is up or down because the gangway belongs to the departure process).

All the vessel-related activities and prerequisites for sailing are done, i.e.g.:

  • Last LiftCargo operations are complete

  • Paperwork is complete

  • Personnel on board

  • Labour/Lasher off board

  • Bunkering / garbage disposal / etc

AND

  • Lashing Complete

  • Third Party Services are Complete

Then, Vessel sailing is waiting for third party activities related to departure:

Marine Services Provider

  • Piloting

  • Mooring

  • Towage

Truck:

Event when the truck is First Time ready to be gate out of the terminalexit the Terminal and ready to initiate the Gate Out (Departure) process, whether loaded with containers or with no containers on its trailer, i.e. when the truck is in the Terminal area and is queued in the Gate Out lane or at the Gate Pedestal.

All the truck-related activities and prerequisites for gate out are done, e.g.:

  • Paperwork is complete

  • Cargo operations are complete

  • Lashing Complete (trailer container locks are engaged)

  • Truck driver is in the truck

  • Truck health is good for operations, e.g. pump tyres, cleaning wind shield

  • Third Party Services are Complete, e.g. X-Ray, Customs, fueling

Then, Truck is waiting for an external (for the Truck) interlock to be released, or start the gate out process (departure process). Potential interlocks:

  • Traffic jam

  • Accident

  • Gate queue clearance

  • OCR broken

Rail:

Event when the train is First Time ready to move out or depart from the Terminal/Port.

  • The containers are fully loaded on the train,

  • Departure processes are completed
    • Paperwork and documentation are complete

    • Cargo operations are complete (e.g. “rail-load-reported” to rail operator)

    • Lashing Complete

    • “walk-the-train”

), and the train crew are all assembled and train ready to depart,
  • All the various kinds of needed approvals are taken and completed for the container to be departed (customs, shipping lines, terminal, etc ..),

  • All the necessary paperwork is completed, AND

  • Brake tests are performed on all train cars.

  • The actual train departure is dependent on third parties, like:
    • is complete, including inspection, brake tests are performed on all train wagons

    • Train wagons are all assembled

    • The rail operator takes over, the wagons are checked and the Locomotive (train) ready to depart

    • Third Party Services are Complete, e.g. Customs

Then, the Train can start the departure process and is waiting for external (for the Train) interlocks to be released:

    • Traffic Light

    • Railway network authority

    • Railway dispatcher and the needed train crews in the rail network to approve the departure to avoid conflicts with other trains on the rail network, to avoid rain rail connectivity issues in the hinterland, e.g. n in case the rail network was being maintained somewhere else …

    • Switchmen to align the switches between the tracks, e.g. if the train is to move from one track to the other

    • Other trains to depart if other trains are ahead on the same track
