Definition

M

“Portgate" is the process by which a carrier (vessel) is using the anchor to maintain an intermediate waiting position on its way to the port (terminal) or after departure from the port (terminal)truck, train) is passing a port gate or pre-gate facility. If no such port gate exists, it may be the event when the carrier passes the physical boundaries of the port limits.

Further Detail

O

Anchorage Portgate is a sub-process of CarrierVisit.Arrival or CarrierVisit.Departure process.

The Anchorage Portgate “start” event occurs when the vessel “Let go” (drops) the anchor (arrival to anchorage area). This may be in the approach towards the port or after leaving that port, usually at a designated anchorage area in the seaside vicinity of the port or river passage.

Anchorage “end” event occurs when the vessel’s anchor heaved in and nested (departure from anchorage).

Not all ports may have a designated port gate. If no such portgate exists, it may be the same facility as the Terminalgate .
