Quay Throughput is the volume of cargo type container, measured in unit TEU, moved from/to all the berths to/from the waterside carrier of the terminal during a specific period of time.

Commonly defined as “Sum of TEUs handled” - NOTE:

This includes ALL physical moves carried in the quay, including those of motor-less barges, performed on behalf of other companies (“quaysharing”), auto-discharge from vessels with the vessel’s own cranes. ”.

Commonly defined as: no. of containers handled for Mainliners, Feeders and Barges. Not including Hatch covers, lashing bins and convenience re-stows.

By Default Quay throughput is the sum of TEU (=objects) moved by the terminal’s berths (=subject) during 1 year (= period).

In TIC semantic this is expressed as: Throughput is the sum of cargo|#unit#TEU (object) that passes through the terminal|@|berth (this subject is the aggregation of all terminal berths = Terminal Waterside) during a certain time period (by default: 1 year).
