• carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival  “start” event is when an assigned CHE executes the first activity related to a specific carrier visit for initiating the PreparationAtArrival process.

• carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival  “end” event is when the first cargo move is completed by any assigned CHE related to a specific carrier visit closing the PreparationAtArrival process and starting the CargoOperations process.

Preparation at arrival and closing at departure: Preparation and closing are necessary to execute the terminal operation; therefore they are included within terminal operations. Preparation and closing could be active before/after as they are preparatory/finalizing works. It is a preparatory/finalizing work before/after the terminal operations process start/ends and can be considered “active”. So preparation will always “start” before the terminal cargo operations “start” and the closing will always “end” after terminal operations “end” because these are activities that need needs to be done before and after the terminal cargo operations.

Carrier Visit vs CHE Preparation at Arrival and Closing at Departure considerations:

Several CHE and lashing processes may participate at the same time in Terminal Operations. The Carrier Visit Preparation at Arrival or Closing at Departure always includes lashing or che.cycle activity (usually without cargo cycle.moves) e.g. moving hatchcovers, twistlock boxes, boom-up/boom-down, drive) or sometimes just a cycle.move with cargo but with a lot of idle time waiting for the arrival. Terminal Operations, Cargo Operations, Preparation at Arrival and Closing at Departure do almost always require some CHE and/or lashing processes. In the example, Preparation at Arrival will start with the start of the che.@1.cycle which is necessary to do with the boom-up, with a lot of idle time and until the end with the first cycle.move with cargo. The Closing at Departure will start with the end of the che.@1.cycle of the last cargo move, and will contain a che.@1.cycle without cargo and some lashing activities. The cargo operations that belongs to terminaloperations.@1's will start with the start of the end of the che3rd crane first cargo move “che.@3.cycle with the first cargo, but later the che.@3 will cycle” of that carrier. In the example, the 3rd crane will leave the first carriervisit (@1) and jump to another Carrier Visit Cargo Operation. In any case TIC4.0 can describe all posibilities and the terminaloperations and cargooperations process will match with a carrier, che or lashing activity.

Considerations per Carrier type:

Vessel:

• carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.start is when an assigned CHE executes the first activity related to a specific vessel visit to initiate the PreparationAtArrival process (drive, boom up, boom down, loading, unloading).

• carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.end is when the first container move is completed by an assigned CHE related to a specific vessel visit (firstcargomove) closing the PreparationAtArrival process and starting the CargoOperations process.

Truck (as external carrier):

• carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.start is when an assigned CHE executes the first activity related to a specific truck visit to initiate the PreparationAtArrival process (RTG or SC or ECH drive; make safe and available a transfer zone). Because the portgate and terminalgate process belongs to the arrival process, and the TerminalOperations start in the transferzone, normally this process is not necessary for trucks.

• carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.end is when the first container move is completed by an assigned CHE related to a specific truck visit (firstcargomove) closing the PreparationAtArrival process and starting the CargoOperations process.

Rail:

• carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.start is when an assigned CHE executes the first activity related to a specific rail visit to initiate the PreparationAtArrival process (drive, open gates, active OCR portal, locomotive). The pins unlock is consider par of the lashing. Unlocking the pins is considered part of the lashing.

• carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.end is when the first container move is completed by an assigned CHE related to a specific rail visit (firstcargomove) closing the PreparationAtArrival process and starting the CargoOperations process.
