Definition

PreparationAtArrival is a process of TerminalOperations by which a subject (usually a terminal) facilitates the Carrier, that belongs to a carrier visit process, to start TerminalsOperations and includes all the subject activities necessary to start CargoOperations.

Further Detail

O

preparationatarrival is considered “active” if the resources are in place and ready to perform the activity (loading, unloading, or moving cargo or documentation preparation). The “start” will define the first time the process is active and the end the last time. During the TerminalOperations the process could be inactive because the resources are not in place (e.g. suspension of operations due to high wind, resources not available).

carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival is a subprocess of TerminalOperations process:

  • carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival  “start” event is before the firsterminalberthreadyforarrivalwhen an assigned CHE executes the first activity related to a specific carrier visit for initiating the preparationatarrival process

  • carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival  “end” event is when the first container move is occurringcompleted by an assigned CHE related to a specific carrier visit closing the preparationatarrival process and starting the cargooperations process

Preparation at arrival and closing at departure: Preparation and closing are necessary to execute the terminal operation, ; therefore they are included within terminal operations. Preparation and closing could be active before/after as they are preparatory/finalizing works. It is a preparatory/finalizing work before/after the terminal operations process start/ends and can be considered “active”. So preparation will always “start” before the terminal operations “start” and the closing will always “end” after terminal operations “end” because are activities that needs to be done before and after the terminal operations.

Considerations per Carrier type:

Vessel:

  • carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.start start is when any CHE can be assigned to the designated carrier visit to initiate any activity and/or any user is working on preparation activities.an assigned CHE executes the first activity related to a specific vessel visit to initiate the preparationatarrival process (to add example?)

  • carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.end is when the first container can be lifted as part of the CargoOperations process. move is completed by an assigned CHE related to a specific vessel visit closing the preparationatarrival process and starting the cargooperations process (to add example?)

Truck:

  • carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.start is when any CHE can be assigned to the designated carrier visit to initiate any activity and/or any user is working on preparation activities.an assigned CHE executes the first activity related to a specific truck visit to initiate the preparationatarrival process (to add example?)

  • carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.end is when the CHE is moving the first container from/to the truckmove is completed by an assigned CHE related to a specific truck visit closing the preparationatarrival process and starting the cargooperations process (to add example?)

Rail:

  • carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.start is when any CHE can be assigned to the designated carrier visit to initiate any activity and/or any user is working on preparation activities.an assigned CHE executes the first activity related to a specific rail visit to initiate the preparationatarrival process (to add example?)

  • carriervisit.terminaloperations.preparationatarrival.end is when the CHE is moving the first container from/to the railcars.move is completed by an assigned CHE related to a specific rail visit closing the preparationatarrival process and starting the cargooperations process (to add example?)
